He has a slider, probably just didn't throw it tonight for some reason.

With him essentially taking mid June through early July off, I assume he can go to the end of the minor league season. Probably no inning cap. Shut him down when the minor league season ends, and get ready for spring training.
Hugs, smiling, and interactive Twitter accounts, don't mean winning baseball. Until this community understands that we are cursed to relive the madness.

If I were Walt, I would let Stephenson take one more start in and then call him up to the majors (with Lorenzen) on August 31 to pitch in the bullpen. I send Ondrusek and Christiani down that day and DFA Justin Freeman and Kyle Lotzkar.

Bringing Stephenson and Lorenzen up on August 31 allows them to be eligible to pitch in the playoffs if they pitch well in their big league auditions in September. This will allow Stephenson and Lorenzen get a taste of the bigs in a very controlled environment and gives the Reds' bullpen the most upside for October.

Stephenson can go back to being a starter in 2014, but he can be an electric arm in the playoffs in 2013.
