    Most overrated player in baseball?

There's lots of candidates and no set criteria. I'm curious to see what others think.

Yet, for me, it's Jacoby Ellsbury with a bullet. He's had one big year and he turns 30 in a few weeks. His legs are more valuable than his bat and some foolish team is going to pay him a king's ransom this winter. A king's ransom he will never come close to earning.
    I'm not a system player. I am a system.

For me it changes every year, but it's always a player from a team in eastern Missouri.
    Where we gonna go?

I think it would be easy to say ARod or Ryan Howard for what they're paid and the production they've given per dollar.

However, I'm going to go collectively and say "The Closer"
My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!

Might put Pujols and Hamilton in that class as well. Although the really big $$$ is yet to be paid to them. LAA hoping it gets better than this year's production out of both of them.

Puig. He doesn't walk on water. Given how he's currently "rated", he'd have to walk on water to not be overrated.

No but Puig is so hot the water turns to steam and he crosses over the dry aftermath.

Because many on these boards believe he is so valuable. WAR started it.

. I am not a WAR guy because I hate the defensive component entirely and am skeptical of the calculation of replacement level somewhat. I am a big fan of rc27 because I've seen the regression analysis that backs it up. Last year if I recall correctly be played more than 20 games at ss, 20 games at 2b, and oodles in the of. In terms of rc27 he was something like number 1 among shortstops, number 2 among 2b and in the too 10 at rf.
I think he is overlooked because he plays for tb, a lot of his value comes from walks, not batting average, he strikes out a fair amount, and early in his career he was legitimately awful as a major leaguer

I have long been hard pressed to determine what exactly BJ Upton does especially well.

I think most fans here in NY hear 'Justin Morneau', remember him winning the AL MVP, and assume he's just been putting up similar numbers for the past several years because they don't pay attention to Minnesota based on the way they talk about trading for him. He's been okay since then but nothing all that special, and he can't stay healthy.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
