Again, I ask you who besides Votto and Goldy would have you have picked at 1B to go to the AS game this year? They were taking 3 players in total for that position, like they do every year. Maybe you should blame it on the overall down nature of the 1B position in the NL rather than saying he shouldn't have been an AS.
The other thing is that it wasn't just his RBI total that made him an AS. He had a pretty good BA average at the time and OBP, enough so that the managers and players voted him in. It isn't a Brandon Phillips situation where he has a ton of RBI's but a low BA and OBP. Craig's first half slash line is .333 .378 .494 .872 and he had an OPS+ of 142. If that isn't AS worthy, you have a pretty high mark for what's considered an All Star. Can you give me an example of the last time a player was hitting over .330 at the break and wasn't made an All Star? As stated before, he was having a better season than Freddie Freeman at the time.
The bottom line is that he isn't overrated for the kind of season he's having.
