My issue isn't whether Craig is a good hitter or not, he clearly has been one his whole professional career. My main point is that his RBI total this year has made him an All-Star and an MVP candidate. Which makes him overrated. He still can be a good clutch hitter, and be overrated.
Again, I ask you who besides Votto and Goldy would have you have picked at 1B to go to the AS game this year? They were taking 3 players in total for that position, like they do every year. Maybe you should blame it on the overall down nature of the 1B position in the NL rather than saying he shouldn't have been an AS.

The other thing is that it wasn't just his RBI total that made him an AS. He had a pretty good BA average at the time and OBP, enough so that the managers and players voted him in. It isn't a Brandon Phillips situation where he has a ton of RBI's but a low BA and OBP. Craig's first half slash line is .333 .378 .494 .872 and he had an OPS+ of 142. If that isn't AS worthy, you have a pretty high mark for what's considered an All Star. Can you give me an example of the last time a player was hitting over .330 at the break and wasn't made an All Star? As stated before, he was having a better season than Freddie Freeman at the time.

The bottom line is that he isn't overrated for the kind of season he's having.

    What an a hole.

More proof that Cardinal fans are the worst fans in the world. Jack Buck is rolling in his grave in embarrassment.

Wow you're an angry fellow. I didn't actually read it until yesterday so sorry if I'm not keeping up with current events here. Per the usual reaction here, and one of the reasons why I've stopped posting on a whole, you overreact. It's fine, you're entitled to. Just realize that there is a difference between whining and actually debating a point. Never did I say Craig was an MVP and that he was the best player in the NL. Is it so wrong to have a player's back when someone makes a ridiculous claim? I'm not going to respond to this any further and if you have any more beef, take it to the private message.

Sad to say, Albert Pujols. He's simply not the player he was 5 years ago, and the injury puts any comeback in jeopardy.

Re: Most overrated player in baseball?

Of all the posts on Redszone over the past 3 months , the one post that Mike "has to respond to" (his words, not mine), is one suggesting Allen Craig is overrated less than 24 hours after he hits a game-winning grand slam against the Reds.

If Mike can't step back and realize the poor timing on that I don't know what to say.

I do believe he has a right to do so however. Much like we have the right to comment on it. Much like anyone that wants to can ignore all this.

I think most informed fans and media realize he is a shell of his old self.
