Everything that can be counted does not necessarily count; everything that counts cannot necessarily be counted.

Why ARE the Mets there?
With your conclusion, then ERA is the only stat we need to define a team's success, because the best teams have the best ERA's without any New York Mets included to ask "Why are the Mets there?", or for that matter, "Why is Arizona there?", or "Why is Cincinnati on top when they are the 2nd Wild Card team?, and only considered for the playoffs because Major League Baseball is turning into Major League Hockey, where soon, half the teams get to be involved in the playoff party.
In Team ERA, it's kind enough to separate your three Division Winners 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, followed by your two Wild-Card teams. Could anything be more conclusive? ERA must be then the end-all-be-all of baseball statistics. Why bother even using any others?

To show how silly it is to draw a conclusion from TEAM Walks to wins in a season, when TEAM ERA is 50 times more conclusive by not including the REDS (5th best record in the NL) at the top, and the METS and the D-Backs in the Top-4 (which makes it nothing noteworthy anyway). Think about how much ERA is bashed around here for being inconclusive (there's yet another thread talking about how unreliable it is), yet there it is staring everyone in the face.
All 3 Division winners are 1-2-3 in team ERA, followed distinctly by the two Wild-Card teams,...followed distinctly by "season average" where the rest of the league falls behind.
If team ERA is silly, as proclaimed for decades here at REDSZONE, then Team Walks is 50 times more silly to draw conclusions towards team wins.
But that's not what we're talking about here, is it?
I'm very surprised the Reds have 77 QS and the Pirates only 63 QS. The Pirates 2.4 K/BB ratio shows how lucky they've been.
Never thought I'd see the day the Reds lead in all of K/9, K/BB and WHIP -- and it not being a surprise.
