You know it's a bad night when Logan Ondrusek is the bright spot of your bullpen.

Parra and Hoover have done a fine job this year, but Brox and Marshall are far more experienced in these situations. Surprised folks aren't saying why no Chapman against Craig.

But the Reds don't really have great, proven set up men without Broxton and Marshall, and even Brox was questionable.

Bullpens are so important in these big games. I know many on RedsZone basically think relievers are a dime a dozen, but it's not so.

In any event, maybe Walt will add a reliever at the 8/31 deadline. The FO is aware that you can add major league players from other teams, I hope.

Votto really shouldn't have served up that grand slam pitch to put the Cardinals ahead, just a terrible job by him.

    wait.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

It's somewhat difficult when batters take strike three and are awarded first base twice in one inning.

Aye, fight and you may die. Run and you’ll live… at least a while. And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance—just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they’ll never take our freedom!
    sorry we're boring

Just an unbelievable stat. 97 wins last year and yet we still lost every series.
And ditto so far this year.

The strike zone is polar opposites from half inning to half inning and it has been that way all night.

That can't be right, we swept them in Cincy last summer? Maybe he meant 10 straight in StL.

Best case scenario: Cards win division and get matched up with and knocked out by Braves/Dodgers. Reds beat Pirates in wild card game and get Braves/Dodgers. I don't see how the Reds would beat the Cards in a one-game playoff on this planet.
