    15 QS, 3.71 ERA and a no-hitter is mediocre?

That was "bad ass mofo" on our staff for most of the last 25 years.
Rounding third and heading for home...

He's spit the bit more times than any starter on the staff this season.

Other than W-L record, in what way has Bailey had a bad year?

29 other teams would line up for his services, imo.

The Allen Craig thing is sort of interesting.

His career, thus far, has a 1.074 OPS with RISP (400 PAs). With no one on base, his OPS is .783 (720 PAs). Remarkable splits.

Of course, his BABIP with RISP is absurdly unsustainable long-term: .425.

    Very weird case study.

most deflating loss of the season for me.

We just handed the Cards sole possession of first place.

I hope we can split the remaining two games.
[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob

Lack of consistency. About ten games allowing four runs or more.

You could say the same thing about hard-throwing pitchers also.

Bailey and Chapman are prime examples.

Guy would've been the unquestioned ace from 2001-2009.

We've been really, really spoiled by this recent run of starting pitching when a dude on pace to K 205 batters with a 3.71 ERA is a disappointment.

Could he be better? Sure. But he's faaaaarrrr from the biggest problem on this team. Nowhere even near the top.

The eternal optimist in me wants to say.... But it wasn't handed to the Cards... But I really can't. This game was the Red's to lose and lose they did. Tyler Lyons is so-so, Leake has had a good year... Things really were in the Reds favor.

Can the Reds pull a 2011 Cards??

The Reds record as a team is craptastic against .500+ teams. It's not just a Bailey thing.

If folks are satidfied with the year Homer is having, they must be pretty easy to please. Relative to Eric Milton, fine. Relative to Bronson, not so fine.

Probably the worst loss of the season for me. Games like tonight are why I pretty much refuse to buy tickets to games against the Cardinals.
