Yeah who needs things like statistics and mathematics and an overall look at a player's 600+ plate appearance season when you can instead base your opinion on the small handful of at-bats that you see the guy have each year.

Votto and baker have both been here a lot longer than this season. Votto has had a great career under Baker, a performance that could not have been predicted based on his earlier stats. Votto has consistently gone out of his way to praise Baker for his guidance.
Those are the facts, everything else is just speculation.

On the other hand, Bruce has not thrived under Baker, at least not like we expected.

One things the Cards have done that the Reds have not is jettison some players that did not perform. It is true that the Cards have a deeper minor league system, but surely the Reds have a better solution than Cesar Izturis et al.

Walt's emphasis has always been defense. This is why he signed Izturis. You know, since Cozart is such an offensive powerhouse. It's why they keep Heisey because he can play both center and left. Hit .210? No problem. They you wonder why they lose sometimes.

But no matter, it's going to be okay. I hope.

Actually a lot of folks have complained about him Not batting Votto second. That's me trying to be a smart $%$#.

Dunn drove in over 100 runs 3 out of 4 years between '04 - '07.

Marty didnt like that too much.

Stubbs still sucks.
We traded Edwin in 2009, it took him until 2012 to do anything. They had a few different managers.
Lohse was traded in 2007, he never played for Dusty.
Wood is having a good year, his first since 2010.

Whomever wins the world series gets on a lucky stitch, even when they actually may be the best team. Baseball is simply that random.
