    Top defensive plays you've seen

Two of the best defensive plays of 2013. Both made my jaw drop:

That Prado play was really good. BP's turn here is the best play I've seen this year. One of the best I've ever seen. Edit: Asdrubal was extremely good too.

Everything that can be counted does not necessarily count; everything that counts cannot necessarily be counted.

I screamed so loud on this one my wife thought something terrible had happened. My uncle in Costa Rica texted me within seconds with an OMG message about it.

Favorite fielder of all time Rey Ordonez. Here is a relay throw to nail a runner at home.....from his knees.

This one is not bad either.

Ken Caminiti, the strength and accuracy of the throw from the seat of his pants always makes me remember this one.

Ordonez is the best defender I have ever seen. Ozzie was past his prime by the time I was old enough to really start paying attention and Ozzie, while not playing in the dark ages, didn't exactly play in the day of video for the early part of his career either.

How good was Ordonez at defense? The guy was a no average, no power Major Leaguer who had a starting lineup figure. Career .600 OPS. Had a freaking action figure.

I will admit freely that I own said action figure.

There was an Ordonez play on a high hopper with seemingly no chance at the fast runner and Rey gave the quickest release on a hard throw I've ever seen....but can't find it.

I can't find video of Freel's catch of a Pujols flyball from 2006, but this one is pretty great too:

All time favorite defensive play: Bo Jackson throws out Harold Reynolds

All time favorite defensive play by a Red (seconded by Larkin): Eric Davis throws out Bobby Bonilla in the 1990 playoffs

All time best defensive play I've seen in person: Dave Parker making a throw out at home in the mid-1980s, then leading off the next inning with a home run. Sorry no video or details. I was a teenager at the time.

Bo Jackson is on my (and a lot of people's) short list for all-time greatest athlete. And that throw, I can't get enough of watching it it's such an amazing play.

At about 4:30 in the audio clip, Harold Reynolds starts talking about the throw and his reaction to it.
