    Feeling Better?

A good percentage of RaisorZone was freaking out a couple of weeks ago. Things were said about the team being "gutless." Some questioned the team's heart. Many of you were outspoken about giving up on the season.

    Simple question: Feeling better?

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

By the way, I've been meaning to compliment you on your avatar. Superman hitting a shot of Johnnie Walker Red is a classic scene in my book.

It's perfectly normal for baseball fans to freak out when they lose a couple of games. (and exhilarate when they win a couple)

    That's the fun!

I stayed off the board and out of most threads during the "bad time", but, yes, I am feeling more optimistic/better about this team's chances...

    Re: Feeling Better?

I'll respond since I think "gutless" was my word, which I used in a game thread, following two pitiful series losses (one to the Cardinals), and referring to the baseball played in those two series specifically. I did not call the Reds gutless. I said they played gutless baseball in those two series and I stand behind it.

Either way, I DO feel better thanks for asking. Even in spite of your bullying. I can only hope somewhere there are people rushing to defend me as I have been mercilessly attacked by a shameless and evil persistent self promoter

Most baseball fans, yeah, I guess.

But if you've watched thousands of games over many, many seasons, you should have realized by now the randomness of baseball, and fully understand that you can't base any 162 game season on a few games, or even a few weeks of a season.

Unless it's the last two weeks of the season, I guess.

I do not feel better because I never felt bad about this team.

I love baseball, I live baseball, I never let baseball make me feel bad about anything.

Except that I can't watch it year round

Same here, except I let some losses frustrate me, only because I love the Reds so much.

Baseball is the greatest game in the world. If football and basketball went away, it wouldn't bother me one bit. There's just something special about baseball.

The pennant race is down to 1.5 games. That's why, whether it's April or August, every boneheaded play and TOOTBLAN means so much.

    Re: Feeling Better?

I'd rather swallow hot coals than lose to the Cardinals. I didn't "give up on the season," but I was convinced we were the second WC. And right now, we still are. And probably more than likely will be.

I'm just glad they've brought up Hamilton and used him. I was a huge booster of this tactic all season long because of the snail crawl base running of this team. I'm glad wisdom settled into the FO.
