Best Player to fail to get 2000 hits:

Walter Johnson, Bob Gibson, Christy Mathewson, Greg Maddux, Sandy Koufax....

Serious answer, I'll go with Shoeless Joe.

Worst player to get 2000? I'll go with Grudzielanek

I confessed in posts before his about Staub being better than I thought and Nettles defense takes him from consideration......he followed with a post mocking me.

List some please. I don't know how to do emoticons.....my tone isn't intended to be bad, though mutaman's got me going a bit.

One's form of criticism is autobiography.

Frank White played on a team with a pretty good thirdbaseman too. Not in Robinson's or Nettles' class defensively, but he could hit a little.

Power hitter playing for the Yankees and only 1 time with 100+ RBI?
He batted 6th most of the time and in the time he played with the yankees here are all the 100 RBI seasons

    8 Thurman Munson 1977 100
Game was lighter then and 90 RBI seasons were nice, from 75-78 Nettles had 4 in a row.

I admitted my flaw and explained they weren't intended to be the WORST....did you or did you not read my post above yours before going into your WS story?.... and then saying I dismissed his entire career when I've already stated that no player with 2,000 hits is a bad player.

Again, I assumed your post took you too long to have read my concession.

I've conceded....but since you brought him up again. OPS .750 for a career and a .248 hitter..... 110 OPS+ (DEFENSE ASIDE.....not super special numbers)....but ONCE AGAIN HIS DEFENSE PROPELS HIM WELL PAST BEING ONE OF THE WORST.

    I know....I didn't give a baseline. Sorry

Worse than Frank White? Amos Otis, Gary Templeton and Jason Kendall without looking to hard. There are also some HOF players like Enos Slaughter and Jim Bottomley you could make the case were worse than Frank White.

I don't know how much to weigh defense but IMO just by looking at numbers Templeton might be the only one below White as White's defense puts him over.....Kendell and Otis are above IMO

White's .90 OPS+ and .675 OPS, only once hit over .275 and never hit .300

Fine. We're all Red Leg's fans. (Particularly tonight). You should read Nettles' book "Balls". really funny.

While Bottomley and Slaughter aren't easily HOFers.....I don't see how White can be argued better than either overall.
