Minor League Organizational Leaders - 2013

First category: Minor League chicks dig the long ball.

    Code:
    PLAYER	AGE	TEAM	HR
    Hessman	35	AAA	25
    Waldrop	21	A+	21
    Duran	21	A+	20
    Silvrio	22	A+,AA	19
    Winker	19	A+	16
    Arias	21	A,A+	15
    Soto	24	AAA	15
    Mattair	24	AA	13
    Yorman	20	A+,AA	13
    Selsky	23	A,AA	13
    SMB	22	A,A+	11
    SmithM.	28	A+,AA	11
    LaMarre	24	AA,AAA	10
    Perez	28	AAA	10
    Ervin	20	RK,A	9
Yorman is Yorman Rodriguez. SMB is Seth Mejias-Brean.

Props to Mike Hessman who now has 400+ career home runs in all leagues total. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing him come off the bench in September for the Reds. I guess roster spots are scarce though.

    Yeah, Tex!

You know, it's a shame that Marquez Smith's season was cut short. He was having about as good an offensive year as anyone in the system. Not sure what happened to him.

Re: Minor League Organizational Leaders - 2013

Most of us, I think, would reflexively pick Stephenson as the organizational pitcher of the year. (I, for one, picked him as player of the year in another thread.) But upon further review, I'm not sure that's fair to Greg Reynolds.

Tim Crabbe's strikes out were down a third from 2012. But his walk rate was halved this season. He may find himself in the bigs as a result. Maybe a Logan Ondrusek type career.

Aim higher TD. I've been thinking JJ Hoover for Crabbe and Sam Lecure for Sharky Rogers.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

Re: Minor League Organizational Leaders - 2013

I'm not as handy with the tables as texasdave, but glancing at the leaders on baseballreference.com I was kind of surprised--probably shouldn't have been--that Mejias-Brean stood at or near the top of so many categories. He was first in hits (150), doubles (36) and RBIs (82). Third in total bases (Silverio, Waldrop) and tied for third in runs (with Winker, two behind Hamilton and Arias). Fifth in batting average. Sixth in OPS. (Counting guys with at least 200 PAs.)
