Don't think Votto is MVP this year, but when talking about NL MVP candidates just now on mlb network they mentioned 10-15 players including Brandon Phillips (lol) and no Votto. Crazy.

Oh yeah, also FREE PIZZA! 12 Ks tonight by Red's pitchers (8/1/3).

Most exciting pinch running appearance ever by a Red. Loved it!

Yeah, I think the Weavers had a hit with that song in 1948 or 1949.

    EDIT: Wikipedia says 1950.

EDIT AGAIN: The old Borkopedia still says 1948 or 1949.

    Me too. A good year

It was an old folk tune first recorded by Lead Belly in the '30's.

The Weavers were a big folk act from the 50's. Pete Seeger and pals were took the baton from Woodie Guthrie.

I'm having fun reading Derrick Goold's tweets. Goold is the Cardinals beat writer for the St Louis Dispatch. Dude is harping on the low attendance at tonight's game. Over and over.

Attendance tonight for what paper called "the biggest series of the season" for the #Reds. Why, 20,219. Goodness. #cardinals #stlcards
Yeah, the Reds won, but look at that low attendance! Losers!

True. But Woody was really a rocker at heart. Just years ahead of his time. Pete was a pure folkie. I heard when Dylan went electric at Newport, Pete ran on stage and tried to unplug the instruments. Good man though. 95 and still doesn't take guff from anyone.

Thanks for posting that. Just shows we are no different than other boards, something that some posters like to say.

I've never seen Dylan and I'm afraid to go because he's such a hero, I'm afraid he won't live up to my expectations. wierd huh?
