The SI Jinx, if you believe in that sort of thing...

May 2013 cover: Adam Wainwright (on fumes?), Jaime Garcia (injured), Shelby Miller, Lance Lynn, Jake Westbrook (injured)

July 2013 cover: Jason Grilli (shortly thereafter, injured)

September 2013 cover: Andrew McCutchen ???

I hope the Reds aren't on the cover until they win the NLCS or World Series.

I don't believe in curses or other superstitions...but I'd rather not risk it.

    Concerning KLW's Reds SI covers:

Will McEnaney's career imploded after 1975

Rich Hinton (#36 pitching in the Spring Training cover) had a 7 ERA in 1976

Votto got hurt after that cover

Sabo cover: Reds haven't win World Series since

Seaver never lead the Reds to the World Series

And we all know what happened to Rose.

The Votto cover was from 2010. His injury was in the 2012 season, I don't remember a 2010 injury?

He had a neck injury at some point. I think the cover was later in the season, though.
There is no such thing as a pitching prospect.

I will also bet a lot of athletes on the pre-1965 covers have probably died!

The neck injury was earlier in 2010.

Not covers, but here are some SI photos

"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

If the image on the cover is for a bad turn, is there a reverse curse? These would say not.

In 1995 a Mets fan friend of mine insisted on calling Ron Gant, "Ronnie Roids." I told he was crazy and that Gant just busted tail in the weight room.

Me thinks I was on the wrong side of that argument

Sad thing about those Pete Rose covers is he signed them. Probably the lowest point in his professional life and he has no shame to autograph them.
