middle of lineup lost game for us last night

Our esteemed 3, 4, 5 hitters went 0-19 last night. We should never expect to win a game with those results from the heart of your lineup.

And who ever thought we would EVER see a day when Joey Votto went 0 for 7? Just not our day.

Choo was absolutely terrible. I believe he bats first.

I agree, also doesn't help they weren't allowed to swing either.

Lets see, they were allowed to swing 19 times in 19 AB's. I don't follow.

I was commenting on all the bunts. Especially having BP bunt.

Brandon Philips has come to the dish 579 times and made an out 416 times, 71.8% of the time, let's not pretend he's not prone to making outs on his own, of those outs three were sac bunts. 39.5% of those bunts have been by position players, 14% of those have been by Cozart.

The "bunting" hysteria today is crazy, granted the Reds will probably bunt more than the last few years it is also related to four factors,

    1. The Reds don't get on base
    2. The Reds score less runs
    3. The Reds hit fewer 2b's vs the league
    4. The Reds hit fewer HR's vs the league

    Solution?

Get on base and hit extra base hits, thus less bunts.

    See simple!

A bit overstated, wouldn't you say? The guy was on base 3x. You want to criticize him for his baserunning blunder, fine. But to categorize him overall that way is incorrect.

The 3,4,5 hitters lost the game yes, but Baker's mismanagement and Votto's horrific game lost the game.

Why does it have to be one thing that lost the game?

There were dozens of events last night, that if anyone doesn't happen, the Reds win the game.

I think "x lost the game" is shorthand for "x was a really big part of why the team lost." At least that's the only way the statement makes any sense.
