Only 3 games out and 1.5 behind the Cards. Two big series this weekend. Reds-Dodgers and Pirates-Cards

Even though Pirates lead division, I'm rooting for them to win the series against the Cards this weekend in St. Louis.

Pirates have a tougher schedule, play in Texas and six with Reds.

Cards have easiest schedule after this weekend. Need them to lose some games to Bucs.

Big win. Team could have folded after last night but they didn't. Kudos. I shall sleep better tonight.

Dodgers are DUE to lose a series...those east coast trips are just as hard on them as west coast trips are on us...

Yep. A nice, tidy, no muss-no fuss win.

The league-average OPS this year is .722.

So the Reds have a slightly above-average third baseman playing great defense. You're right Walt looks at more than a game. And that's why Frazier should not be benched. He's on pace to finish the season nearly a four WAR player.

I sure hope Phillips is OK to play against the Dodgers.

I don't think it was a bad move since everyone else in the bullpen got used a lot last night.

    Re: Cards-vs-Reds-9/5/2013

The Reds pitching staff completely dominated this series. Even in the loss they basically pitched the equivalent of two quality starts. Other than Matt Adams' extra inning heroics, this was four days of WS-caliber pitching.
