Jocketty gets a lot of credit, along with ownership, the scout/drafting/development people, all of them.
What an exciting team this has become. Votto, Chapman, and Hamilton alone are worth the price of admission.

I don't think you're right but could be wrong. My understanding from a reading of the rules is that the DL for postseason purposes is determined by the list sent to MLB on Aug 31. Further, only one of those players could be replaced by a non-25-man-roster player. Again, could be wrong but did some research on this. I'd be very interested to have one of the many serious experts (i.e., definitely not me :-)) weigh in on this who know the rules well.

I wanted to do more than just "like" this. So, I'm quoting it. It's a sentiment any Reds fan should share. At the same time, and as we all know, baseball can be a brutal game. We all felt similary warm and wonderful this time last year. And you can bet your ass if we fold in the LDS (or, God forbid, in a WC game) again, the sentiment above will be long-forgotten by most. It's all about at least making it into the LCS. Showing real progress. As unfair a standard as that may be given the vagaries of the game.

Basically, anyone in the organization from Rookie League to the majors is eligible for the post season. Anyone in the organization who is not on the 25 man roster or the major league DL can replace a player on the DL. It's like, Oh, hey, Logan Ondrusek. How's your shoulder? It's a little sore? Boom, he's on the DL and Hamilton replaces him.
Is Hamilton already the best PR of all time? Might be. Might get himself 15-20 SB this season, and wait until he starts going for 3rd base (people are going to lose their minds).
And comparing Hamilton's speed to what we normally consider fast is pointless. He's on another level. There's going to be an entire cottage industry of graduate theses devoted to figuring out the effect of Hamilton's speed on the game. He really is the New Math.

More than the speed itself, it was the lack of variety in the attack.
And, though it's too early to say anything definitive, notice how the team has been hitting real well with Hamilton on the bases. Generally speed on the bases doesn't buy pitches for the guy at the plate, but Billy Hamilton might be the exception to that rule.
Somebody who's not as lazy as me really ought to look at what pitchers are throwing with Hamilton on the bases.

Not sure you're right. Can you cite a source for that? I think (and, again, I could absolutely be wrong here) the "flex" positions which a Hamilton could fill are for DLed players as of 8/31. Not future ones. Trying to remember the relevant specifics around what happened when Cueto went down in the LDS last year.

Billy Hamilton is eligible for the playoff roster, as per #Reds. He replace a player on DL (Masset). @Cincienquirer
RT @jfoley22: How can they since he was a Sept 1 call up, not on the 25man? Injury replacement?//The Reds rule guy told us that.
