With this team, it's all about who shows up. They're going to do this about once every three games. It's unusal to have them do it on back to back nights like this, though.

I think it's that you all just can't seem to resist starting these jinx threads.

    I can admit that
Sounds to me, if for some reason MLB announced they were contracting the Reds after the season that you would be disappointed, but would still be able to enjoy baseball more or less the same. Me? I'd be crushed. Baseball would never be the same for me if the Reds were gone. Doesn't mean I don't love the game, but my connection to it is very directly tied emotionally to my tie with the Reds.

All of a sudden, Travis Wood is Tom Browning, and Jackson is Roger Clemens.

I'd say with as few games left as there are, there's a lot to be worried about. We won two out of the three vs. LA by the skin of our teeth. I'm not convinced this offense can get it done in the playoffs.

Exactly my concern also. Jackson was no Roger Clemens when he was with the Nationals. That said, most are still scratching their head here why he wasn't given a qualifying offer and thus no compensation for him was received. Now he, like Zach Duke, is pitching like an All Star.

Two days ago, I was pretty optimistic we could make a run at the division. Of course, still very doable but if we could get back to winning tomorrow night, I'd consider it a personal favor.

I'm not feeling better. I am not going to give credit to Jackson for his performance. He came into this game with a nearly 5.00 ERA, and hadn't won a game since July. The Reds had 10 hits, were 1 for 11 with RISP, hit into 2 double plays, and left 9 on base. There were many opportunities that weren't capitalized on. The Reds have been doing this all season. I just can't see them turning on the switch come playoff time and start hitting in critical situations. They may win a 1 game play in, but in a longer series, I
just see the offense struggling as in the regular season. While we won 6 of 7 against LA and STL, we didn't exactly light up the scoreboard.

Nats have started selling playoff tickets. Quixotic, but not impossible.

I am not feeling better again.

    Re: Feeling Better?

Well we're bad again. Bats are dead. Reds look like a team satisfied with just making the playoffs. But they had better pick it up a little or the Nats may just catch therm. Crazier things have happened and if the Reds don't find some sense of urgency this season will end in a disaster.
