They just showed a replay of Cozart sliding into home from last night...but looking down the 3rd base line. I hadn't seen that angle before. That huge grin as he's doing a belly flop is fantastic. :O)

Welp...at least we don't have to wonder about Votto winning a GG this year.

That looked like a pretty bad hop to me. Haven't seen a replay yet though.

~edit~ just went back and rewatched it. Yep, pretty bad hop...but still an E because he didn't get in front of it but played it to the side.

Exceptionally hard hit ball, exceptionally bad hop. I doubt it will be scored an error.

I didn't see the play. Are the Cubs cubbing already? Can someone describe it?
"In our sundown perambulations of late, through the outer parts of Brooklyn, we have observed several parties of youngsters playing 'base', a certain game of ball. Let us go forth awhile, and get better air in our lungs. Let us leave our close rooms, the game of ball is glorious"

It was hit 12 inches away from his left foot. If he gets in front of it, even if he doesn't glove it cleanly he blocks it with his body and it's an easy out. That's my beef with him. He hasn't been fundamentally sound on D.

As I said in another post, it was a foot away from him. You have to get in front of that ball. He had plenty of time to do so.

It should still be an error IMO. He did not even attempt to get in front of that ball. Played it to the side when he DID have time to play it better.

It was routine all the way. It short-hopped, but Joey stepped to the side again, as he's done more and more this year, making a routine play more difficult.
