"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."
Reds are taking fastballs down the pipe and swinging at sliders 8 inches off the plate. Liriano has it working tonight.
"In our sundown perambulations of late, through the outer parts of Brooklyn, we have observed several parties of youngsters playing 'base', a certain game of ball. Let us go forth awhile, and get better air in our lungs. Let us leave our close rooms, the game of ball is glorious"
That Liriano slider is eating the LH Reds alive.
But Votto learns. He'll get a better swing next time. And Bruce has the HR swing on lefties.
lol at poll
While Votto and Bruce hit lefties well, it's really unfair to expect them to carry the day against a pitcher like this. The guy is murder on lefties.
It's time for certain RHH on the Reds to produce some runs. Relying on previous years and minor league stats won't do it right now.
bruce with a nice catch
Votto got 9% of the votes lol
More D! Nice grab by Jay!
94 Reds / 86 Cards / 85 Pirates / 76 Cubs / 72 Brewers
The Reds are flashing leather.
My contribution to this august group and discussion?
A baseball ace is a pitcher who is significantly more effective than at least 90-95% of his peers. How you measure that is your business since I won't wade into any old math/new math stuff now. Have a game to watch and Jay just made a fab play!
Reds & Nats, 2013 LCS. Take2 (9/13) Reds but no Nats
I voted for Votto
"But I do know Joey's sister indirectly (or foster sister) and I have heard stories of Joey being into shopping, designer wear, fancy coffees, and pedicures."
I have OD'd on sugar
Mute is the only watch this
The older I get - the better I was
and yes - I hate the Cardinals (Reds fan since 1958)
As much as I normally like patience and hate the usual Reds approach at the plate I think tonight against Liriano it might make more sense to be aggressive on early fastballs. That slider is untouchable.
A night like tonight it might be better to just be lucky.
