Guessing that you've correctly stated the reason the Reds have kept Johnny out there. But if someone gets on base, I think they will pull him.

We talked for maybe 15 or 20 min. He was frustrated with what he believed to be Dusty's blind spot for playing veterans over youth even when a cooler performance/potential analysis might dictate otherwise. I agreed with him citing Hanny's starts at 3rd and the stubborn continuation of trotting Duke out in bad situations as possible examples of that phenomenon.
Interesting. I keep hearing Baker is a players manager. First of all, I'm not exactly sure what that means and secondly it doesn't seem to be the case for all players. I've always thought the manager should manage the team and what's best for the team...and not the individual player. It's the kind of thing that can come back to bite.

I must say, a tie game feels like a 1 run lead with Billy on the bench.

Some good D from Washington bottom of the 3rd and still 2-1 Nats now in the 4th.

He just came off the disabled list after not pitching for months. And after going on the DL about 5,253 times this season.

I'm on this side too...I want to know how effective Johnny is at 100 pitches.

Yeah but we may end up needing him in the playoffs. If he's right we want him. 100ish pitch count is ok.

Yeah, it's certainly not a slam dunk decision. If it were mid-August, i'd be a little more willing to let him go.

But like you said, I understand the stretching out thing. I just get anxious. They need to get this W.

Bucs still 1-0 after 4 at Wrigley. All thre Central games tight though now Nats threatening again with runners at corners but 2 outs for Adam LaRoche, who's not having a good year.

There's probably a third choice we are all ignoring.

Baker sent Cueto out there because he felt he gave us the best chance to win.

Dusty needs to wear one of those rubber braclets that says, "WWBBD"
