Biography:

Although best remembered as a base thief, Sliding Billy Hamilton also excelled at bat and in the outfield. He had 914 career stolen bases and a single-season total of 111 in 1891. Hamilton remains one of only three players whose runs scored (1,691) exceeded his games played (1,578). He hit better than .300 in 12 successive seasons en route to a career mark of .344.

Nice find! They were selling Run Billy! Run! shirts at the game last night to benefit a local charity. Hopefully we'll see some of him in the post-season. He speed definitely seems to be throwing pitchers off and helping us score a few extra runs. It'll be interesting to see what he develops into; his hitting so far suggests that he might do well in the majors - if he can run like this all season without injury.
