Pretty simple.
Taking 2 of 3 against the Pirates and 3 of 4 against the Cards are not positives. That was what they were supposed to do when they play those games at home (Pirates on the road, but you can't lose 2 of 3) and you're trying to win a Division. The alternative would have been to lose 2 of 3 to the Pirates and split a 4-game series at home to the Cards. They already had lost 2 of 3 @ home to the Cards earlier, something that was a true negative.
They needed to be sweeping the Cubs and Mets and taking 2 of 3 from the Brewers.
Sweeping the Dodgers made up for not sweeping the Cubs.
