9/25/2013 Mets at Reds *Early Game*

1-0. Something happened/went wrong with Latos? Maybe just that he threw a heck of a game but still lost I'd guess? Clearly no bats.

The run was scored on a HBP, a bunt, an absolutely miserable passed ball by Mesoraco, and then a soft ground ball to first with Votto playing way too far in.

Latos looked as good as you would expect a top pitcher to look against a lineup containing one major league hitter.

On the other hand, the Reds...

Kudos to Hernandez, Darling and Cohen. After the Mets's dismal season they could have come in here and just gone through the motions, but they brought their A game and really got into the series. Unfortunatly, they made it clear that they did not think the Red Legs did the same.

Not what I heard. Sources tell me that Hernandez was playing Strat-O-Matic, Darling was surfing porn sites on the internet, and Cohen was looking for good brisket in the Nati.

Division obviously out of the question now and I guess looking more likely we'll travel to the playin vs host it. But it's one game. We just took 2 of 3 in Pittsburgh so surely we can take one wherever it is.

They should play it in Fairbanks. Big travel for both teams.

Thanks, dsmith. And bummer to hear about Meso. He needs to really work on becoming a better defensive catcher. But I still like him in the lineup over Hanigan. Know some others don't agree, likely including Dusty when it comes to the playin.

Was going to say this weekend's series should be interesting but actually it probably won't be. I'll watch the games. And, if they win 2 or 3, that'd be cool and put me into a less sour mood. But, it is all about Tuesday; probably back at PNC (maybe I should go since the last time I saw them there they cleaned the Bucs' clock....hmmm...thinking out loud....wasn't going to do a Cincinnati trip until and if they made the LCS...but that playin...hmmm....should I?...I could....)

Now that the Pirates have lost, today (in hindsight) was a meaningless game.

Still have to take two of three from the Pirates no matter what to get the home WC game.

Hope the Reds got it out of their system.

Absolutely. Official scorers are ridiculously homerish. They serve no purpose.

I don't give a crap if we get swept this coming up series....as long as we win that one game series next week.

After we played last weekend and how we played in San Fran last year, I feel we would be more focused on the road, and the pressure on Pittsburgh. Just my take.

Thought someone had posted here that the Bucs would have the tiebreaker if the two teams ended tied? if that's right (I haven't checked), we'd need to sweep the series to host. One game back of the Bucs now. We win 2 and they 1 this weekend, we'd have equivalent records.
