Last weekend in Pittsburgh, they had Fan Appreciation Day and were announcing giveways of all kinds throughout the game (Sunday). One of the coolest ideas there, which I hadn't seen before elsewhere, were player jersey giveaways. So, at the end of inning X, they'd announce the winning seat number for a McCutcheon jersey, a Lambo jersey, etc.It's "Fan Appreciation Day", "Team Photo Day", and "Family Day" so a few fans are going to be there for the promotions, so why not?
Because the Reds won big, we stayed until well after the game ended. We watched as a line of fans, holding cards or sheets of paper, were led down the LF line toward the Bucs' dugout. When they got there, we saw the cards each had a player's name. And, then the players all came out, removed their jersey's, approached whichever fan was holding the card with the right name, and signed, chatted and handed them the jersey. I thought that was very cool and maybe representative of the bond that city has with the team despite the lost decadeS. Have the Reds ever done that at GABP? Has anyone seen this done before?

As I suspected...you can't tell 40,000 people on Fan Appreciation Day to watch Neftali Soto. Starters will play like half the game.
