No kidding. They even drew 42k on a weekday home game in San Francisco this year. Now that's impressive.

i was at game #3 last year aginst the Giants and that was the loudest i heard the fans in the 8th and 9th innings. and that was AFTER the crowd was silent after the grandslam by Posey!!! the teams manger has no urgency to win.. Even Marty said on the radio Dusty said being in game 5 is urgency.. Thats not a the tone a fan wants to hear, Trying to win out is what you want to hear, Not relax because your in and not trying to get more than a 1 game playoff!!..PLUS how many times has the team looked un-excited?? lathargeic?? Is that the fans fault?? where is the leadership that doesnt put up with that? Greg Vaughn didnt let that go on in 1999!!.. they blew that one game playoff, but that team was exciting to watch.. no give up!!

Maybe those 15 games since 1938 happened in 2013?

    That's not a baseball town
Are you trying to say that since 1938 the Reds have only drawn 30,000 or more for games not played on weekends 15 times? Because they accomplished that particular feat 10 times this year.

Edit: I hadn't read one of your previous posts before I posted this.

Was Cincinnati a "baseball town" in the 70's when they outdrew everyone except the Dodgers?

Was Cleveland a "baseball town" when it sold out 455 straight games from 1995 to 2001?

I would answer yes to the above 2 questions.

A "baseball town" can come and go, unfortunately.

Ah, taken. That is interesting. I wonder how many years that was due to lack of contention mixed with the start of football?

It's easy to be a 'baseball town' when you're winning. The Cardinals have averaged 88 wins a year since the strike year (not counting 1995). Winning breeds winning. We've only been winning since 2010. I remember 1999 being an AWESOME year for the city. They were behind the team 1000%.

But when you're a franchise that's had only 8 winning seasons since their last World Championship 23 years ago (3 of those in the last 4 years), then it's gonna take time for us to become a better 'baseball town' than what we're doing. We've got to not only win during the regular season, but the post season like STL.

I'm telling you, if we don't at least get to NLCS, there will be many jaded fans out there especially considering baseball seems to be a 'dying' sport.

Exactly. The Yankees and Cardinals weren't always packing the house.

Consistently win and they will come (unless it's Florida).
