I agree that most franchises would love to have regular postseason appearances (however you define it) so we have that. But man, it's been painful.

The problems are deeper than the bench. The Reds this year were below average offensively (OPS based) at second, short, third, left, and catcher. In some cases well below average. Includes the entire position, starters and backups.

Reds have to deal with this one way or the other if they are going to improve.

Seems like half of Walker's 16 HR have come against the Reds.

    Re: 9/28/13 Reds v. Pirates

Fox announcer just mused that he "wondered if the losses yesterday and today would carry over to Tuesday." Then emphasizing that Liriano, 11-1 at home this year, is "one of the best in baseball" and a daunting challenge for the Reds…or something idiotic like that.

Left unsaid, of course (surely because he didn't know), is that LIriano was winless against us in 3 starts this year, giving up 8 earned runs in 16 1/3 innings for a rotund 4.41 ERA.

No nervousness here. We're going to be winners on Tuesday.

Has felt a bit that way. And he almost launched his third today right there.

Walker has an interesting background. His dad played with Clemente.

Joey Votto going Brian McCann on Starling Marte for trying to steal?

Not going to repeat. Don't savor this so far.

    Hope the playoffs go better.

The loud chants of MVP for McCutchen in GABP are making me sick.

6 of 7 from LA and STL before flailing with CHC and MIL. 2 of 3 from PITT at PNC before dropping a series to the Mets.

Now drop this series and finish the season with 90 wins.

Tuesday? Impossible to say but I'm a Reds fan so I say they're going to win.

Wow. Pretty cool. I've always liked Walker. Even though he doesn't have any swag.

Thought I heard that! What is that about? Were there many Bucs fans there last night? There were hardly any of us at PNC last weekend. The two of us weren't so lonely but, surrounded by black and gold, would have been cool to have a bit of red within earshot. Hope there will be some CIN-PIT caravans on Monday.

I think that's the crux of it all. We just don't know with this team, and it's frustrating.

    This...
