Steelers now one game away form being back in the local crosshairs. They've had to enjoy the Pirates run taking away the heat.

Cardinals have the inverse Dusty math in elimination games. Randomness is apparently almost always on their side while giving Dusty the Byrd.

It's up to the starters. Turn the high energy into a nervous crowd just like any hostile sporting venue.

I think Bailey and a healthy Cueto are the most likely to have gotten it done. I see the same qualities in Cingrani.

Yeah, number me among those who don't buy the "it's all (or even mostly) randomness in the postseason" argument.

It's mostly the pitching, the bullpen strength in particular.

Starting to think I'd really like to see a Boston-LA World Series.

As a fan of baseball I was really wanting Cutch to get walked and then Morneau gap one and watch Cutch bolt around the bases for the incredibly dramatic walk off series clincher......place would've just went bazerk.

Been very KGJ in 1995 for the Mariners.....and that was flipping awesome (unless you were a Yankees fan)

That is going to happen when 18 year olds and 22 year olds are available in the same draft classes. Right out of the gate, the older guys are almost always going to look good.
Right out of the gate, Wacha is dominating major league lineups with 2 pitches, fastball-change.

And Travieso is still looking for that 98 mph fastball he flashed in high school as he labors in low A mediocrity. Long road ahead.

Really, the Wacha v. Travieso debate would work if we were Monty Python here.

Helluva draft by the Cards. Kid's really good.

Hard to argue that right now. Hopefully this is a major thing they work on addressing.
There is no such thing as a pitching prospect.

Reds had some streaks this year where they looked like they could play with the big boys. When Latos and Bailey were dealing, they stayed away from dumb mistakes, played some D, and got a few runs, they looked like a contender.

But that flaccid end to the season doomed them and made them look like weenies.

    Edit. Wrong thread.
Benzinger backing and calling! And the 1990 world championship series belongs to the Cincinnati Reds!

With those bears, the Red Sox look like the House of David team.
