Our friend Joe West gets home plate and crew chief duties for the Reds-Pirates Wild Card game on Tuesday, with Dale Scott, Dan Iassogna, Rob Drake, Tim Timmons and Lance Barksdale on his crew.

Jerry Layne will head up the Division series in St. Louis between the Cards and the Pirates-Reds winner, with Wally Bell, Sam Holbrook, Jim Joyce, Paul Nauert and Tony Randazzo.

I don't think this has been posted yet, but ignore this if it has. Not a big fan of Joe West, but hopefully the umps don't stand out in the playoffs.

Oh good lord. That's the best baseball can do putting old Country Joe West behind the plate for a one and out game. MLB is a strange creature with its buddy-buddy old school system. That blown call in Texas last night that could have been huge.
