Well said, I agree 100%. The other way isn't working right now. Said this on the Fox morning news.

I'd actually prefer that Phillips took more pride in his OBP and SLG.

    Whatever it takes to win.

If there is any player on the Reds who tries to hit a 5 run HR every AB, it's Phillips.

Funny he says it, when he's the one most guilty in the first place.

Another example of players just needing to shut up and just play.
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

Yep, Brandon. Hopefully no one is dumb enough to try to stretch a double into a triple and gets gunned out at 3rd base (with no outs). Yep, Brandon. Otherwise some people may remember it one year later.

Small market fan... always hoping, but never expecting.

If you are talking about the play in the first inning of game three, Phillips was stealing second when the ball got by Posey, who subsequently gunned him down at third.
If you are talking about another play, just forget that I ever typed this.

But your point is well taken.

I wish he'd have thought of that before he opened his fat mouth to Cincinnati magazine.

I'd actually prefer they win. And, have to tell you, I like the fact that BP spoke up--with comments focused on the team--whatever he said.

As much as we debate Dusty's moves, Joey's OBP, Ludwick's struggles at the plate (and comments to media), baserunning gaffes, the bench, the bats, Leake and certain members of the pen and all the rest, my biggest concern about the team this year is none of that.

It's the intangible stuff which I'm quite sure matters; as much as the tangible/talent/data/roster composition. Chemistry, accountability and drive. Watching the Rays last night and how they played and celebrated. The upstart Indians and Red Sox. The perennially loopy but effective A's. They all really seem to genuinely be enjoying themselves and each other. Playing to win but playing smart and having fun doing it. I know some here think that stuff irrelevant but not me. I think it matters a lotÖin life, in baseball and with the Reds. Culturally, we feel a bit more like the Dodgers and Tigers. A bit more passive and serious. Maybe more professional and workmanlike. Not sure. But I am sure the Reds are good enough to win tonight and, at least good enough to get to the LCS.

On our way to Pittsburgh and, this morning, my unscientific samplying of national media and oddsmakers all seem to favor the Bucs. That's okay with me. Not surprising and, of course, doesn't matter what any pundits say talking about McCutcheon, Liriano, Alvarez and, most quizzical to me, how Hurdle is a savior and the lead horse for manager of the year. Bring it on, I say. And I hope the team is saying that too.

Win. Just get the job done. Whether that's with "small ball" or with a few homers, doesn't matter. Just win.

Screw smallball, I hope Choo hits a double, Ludwick walks, and then Votto hits a ball 500 feet, rinse and repeat. Treat these clowns the way you did last Sunday and just dispatch them under a hail of extra base hits.

I was hoping to see some Swag Ball. Actually, this is to be expected in the postseason. More reporters asking more questions, more players speaking off the tops of their heads.

Brandon Phillips, who left Saturday’s game after fouling a ball off his shin, will start tonight. “I saw him (Sunday),” Baker said. “He wasn’t limping. He was pimping ... Not literally.
