I am heartbroken, despite the fact that the writing was on the wall all along. An ugly, ugly game. Just ugly.

The better team clearly won. We just weren't good enough this year. I dunno what it was, but something was missing this year...it never felt like it was our year.
Now it's up to the organization to decide which direction they wanna go in a few areas. Important offseason.
I hate the end of the baseball season (and it's really over for me--I refuse to watch three teams I hate go at it), but for some reason I'm sorta relieved. It was very frustrating for me. So many close game losses, so many extra inning games, so many games lost that should have been wins--more than the 7 or 8 needed to win the division. Cueto's injury, Ludwick's injury on opening day, Marshall's injury, Broxton's injury, and off seasons by Votto, Frazier, and Hanigan. I'm exhausted. It's a relief, but it's going to be a long time before I get over this.

Boy, that one hurt. Very sad end to this season, but not shocking given the way they played at the end.
The Reds scored 13 runs in their last 7 games. No team wins often when they average scoring 1.85 runs per game.
During that same seven game span, they gave up 29 runs, 4.14 per game. It's no wonder that they went 1-6 over the last seven games, and even the extra inning win against the Mets was frustrating.
What happened to this team? They just absolutely choked this year.
At some point, although I like Dusty in many ways, he has to take responsibility for this kind of total collapse. All the veterans need to be right there with him: Votto, Phillips, Ludwick, Bruce, Hanigan, Arroyo, Cueto, Marshall, etc.
Something was wrong with the team chemistry this year. I can't explain it better than that. Stagnation? Lack of moves by Walt? Players immaturely grousing about the fans, with nobody with the guts in the clubhouse to call BS on that sentiment? Not sure what it was.
I know my sabermetric friends say there is no such thing as team chemistry. I think there is. The Reds didn't come from behind to win games much this year. They didn't have 'it'. The 1990 team did. The '75 and '76 squads did. I think the Pirates might be the team this year.

Apparently dallas latos was physically assaulted at the game and police refused to do anything about it. Keep it classy pittsburgh.
