I'd be cool with Price or LaRussa, and Larkin as a bench coach. He could also be groomed as the manager-in-waiting if it's LaRussa on a short-term gig.
Riggleman brings fire but his results underwhelm me. Please no David Bell.
Reading through these manager threads only confirms how little I care who manages the team, and how much work it's going to take to get an Allen Craig type in the middle of our lineup, some offense--any offense--from catcher and short, and yes, a replacement for Dudwick. Plus a couple of electric bullpen arms.
Heavier lifting than figuring out who gets to face he press after a game. This team without changes is headed in the wrong direction.
The widow is gathering nettles for her children's dinner; a perfumed seigneur, delicately lounging in the Oeil de Boeuf, hath an alchemy whereby he will extract the third nettle and call it rent. ~ Carlyle
Too bad Melvin is so successful in Oakland, sounds like he'd be a perfect fit here with Price.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."
Pete Rose is available. I wonder where he would bat himself in the lineup?
"A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals and you know it."
Mike Scioscia might be available.
"Boys, I'm one of those umpires that misses 'em every once in a while so if it's close, you'd better hit it." Cal Hubbard
If you're Scioscia, wouldn't you just take the 5 year extremely well-paid by LAA vacation?
"Reality tells us there are no guarantees. Except that some day Jon Lester will be on that list of 100-game winners." - Peter Gammons
i wonder if Pinella would take it if asked?? hmmm or maybe they look at Bob Brenly, he is from Ohio and won a World Series..Girardi i think will be a Cub or Yankee Manager in my opinion. I wonder if Dusty ends up in Seattle..Cant see him a Nationals' Manager though
I probably won't like anyone they hire.
Unless it's Price.
"Baseball players are smarter than football players. How often do you see a baseball team penalized for too many men on the field?" ~ Jim Bouton
