per mlbtraderumors.com, Bronson Arroyo wants a 3 year deal.

    http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/

Bronson Arroyo says he wants a three-year deal and he feels his time in Cincinnati is likely over. “I have no preference on where I want to pitch but I’ll certainly consider the team, their chances of winning, and all of that,” he said. “I feel I can pitch effectively at 37, 38, and 39 years old. I’ve never missed a start. Never been injured. I’m not a max-effort guy out there, so there’s no big-time wear and tear on me. I loved Cincinnati but I don’t think they’re in position to give me what I want.” Cafardo suggests the Blue Jays, Orioles, Brewers, Cubs, Giants, Pirates, Cardinals, and Dodgers as possibilities.

I think Arroyo will probably get a 3 year deal, though it may not be for the dollars he'd like. Cincy shouldn't go for a multi year for Arroyo, but I wouldn't cry if he came back for one more season.
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

This is why I make him a qualifying offer and let him turn it down. Given the time frame for QAs there is just no way he is going to accept it, imo. Then the Reds can add a draft pick as compensation, either first or second round. If he does accept it, well, that is hardly a crisis - the starting depth will be thin next year. Very little risk he takes the offer.

I think there is plenty of risk with an offer, and if I'm Arroyo I would take $13MM to stay with the Reds for another year and hope for a two-year deal starting in 2015.

Now if Bob and Walt are fine with the risks associated with this offer - i.e. paying Bronson to be an expensive, but very durable rotation insurance policy - I say why not. But if they are looking to trim the budget a bit to use elsewhere and roll with the rotation as is (and not deal Bailey), I doubt they will take that risk.

I think he would definitely turn down a qualifying offer.

After all of his years with the club, to let him walk without draft compensation would be a relative criminal offense.

With the 1013 qualifying offer to be about $14M there is real risk that Arroyo might accpet such a deal, as he's likely to get about $9-10M on a 3-year deal, so he could accept the 1-year deal, and try and get a 2 year deal in 2014 for only $6.5M potentially per season to get his money.

Plus, no one might be willing to surrender a first round pick to get him. That might bring him back to us.

I doubt the Reds risk a 1-year $14M payout to Arroyo.

Unless STL has indicated as much, I'm curious what makes Cafardo think the Cardinals are interested in Bronson.

Good question, it makes absolutely no sense. I like Arroyo, he is a good and reliable starter, but the Cardinals have so many young starters. There is no chance Arroyo is offered a contract with Cardinals. The Cardinals aren't even interested in keeping one of the own, Jake Westbrook.

I want to win the lottery. It doesn't mean it's going to happen.

Look, there's also a certain amount of luck that's gone into him staying healthy for this long. I just don't see him remaining healthy, especially at his age.

I think there is a very good chance that Arroyo accepts a $14Mil one year deal with the team he has been with for years. He knows that by turning that offer down, it will hurt his chances of getting a good multi year deal from antoher team.

Bronson wants a 3-year deal doesn't mean Bronson gets a 3-year deal. He'll test the market in the winter, and I could see him back in Cincinnati on a two-year contract.

Well if Walt didn't set 36 M on fire by blowing it on Broxton and Ludwick, I think the Reds would bring Arroyo back. I want him to retire a Red, he deserves it. Cueto is injury prone, Who knows if Cingrani can pitch 200 IP, we have ZERO rotation depth, I want Bronson back. NEVER hurt and always gives you what he has. NO Broxton/Ludwick and Walt could have offered Arroyo a 3/36 M contract.

If one of the starters gets hurt, who did we have? Corcino? Reynolds? Stephenson is not ready. I would honestly try and unload both Broxton and Ludwick, although it will never happen. I would also try and trade Phillips
