    Dexter Fowler traded to Houston

    From the Rockies twitter feed:

#Rockies have acquired RHP Jordan Lyles & OF Brandon Barnes from @astros in exchange for Dexter Fowler and a PTBNL.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Why wasn't Walt all over this? I mean, I know he's got more knowledge than I do about the value of players, but I have to believe he could have topped that deal. Fowler seems like he coulda been an obvious part of the 2014 solution for the Reds.

Who could the Reds offer? Reds only good young, cost controlled, close to mlb ready pitcher is Stephenson. Corcino isn't going to do it. Fowler's a good target, but Reds didn't have what the Rockies were looking for.

Fowler is an overrated Coors Field mirage.

Yeah, I'm not getting the love-fest for some of the guys that get gushed over here. Fowler's one of them.

So Leake and Lamarre wouldn't fit the bill?

I had the impression that Coors field didn't produce mirages since the humidor. Coors beer mirages? Absolutely. Coors field mirages? Not so much anymore.

Guy has close to an .800 lifetime OPS. I have to think anything close to that in CF would be a huge lift to the Reds. And he, unlike Choo, is actually a CF.

Re: Dexter Fowler traded to Houston

I know he wasn't perfect. But, this team needs offense, and I think he could've helped. The problem is to replace Choo (and probably Phillips) you need two good players just to break even with last year.

I really hope Walt has a plan, and I know in the past his stuff has been quiet until it happened, but I'm starting to get a little nervous as options come off the board and you hear very little about Cincy.
