Re: Jim Riggleman: Please make it stop

The Reds are an attractive job. Many say that Washington is a more preferable landing spot, but this is a team with a MVP 1b, All Stars at 2B and RF and one of the best rotations in baseball. The Reds should be able to pick whoever they want...

That's why I'd be disappointed with Riggleman. Not saying that the biggest name would be the best for the job, but I doubt teams with a managerial opening have been ringing Walt up and asking to talk to Riggleman, let alone clubs with a team full of talent that is a few moves away from being able to win a pennant or World Series. There are better options out there.

During his time in Pensacola, Riggleman didn't shy away from the question on why he quit and it basically came down to him realizing that he wasn't going to be around in two months. The guys been around baseball long enough to realize how this would haunt him in pursuing other managerial jobs and he still did it. So my guess there was a lot said that would have made the last 2 months miserable for Riggleman. If a GM or owner can fire you around the All Star break, why can you not quit on a road trip as a manager?
