    NLCS

Did anybody notice who is in the NLCS? Cardinals and Dodgers. Two teams that we nearly swept in 7 days about a month ago. Such a shame too since we looked like we could be finally putting it together and finally get hot.

Same for me. But I doubt I will be rooting for either. I'll just watch because it will be good baseball and care less who wins or loses.

I'm rooting for the Dodgers to sweep the Cards, then be swept in the WS.

I cannot pull for the Dodgers. My distaste for them through the years is much more severe than my current dislike for the Cardinals.

I find this dodger/cardinal dislike discussion amusing. Elder Reds fans hate the Dodgers and most Reds fans my age or younger (I am 30) hate the Cardinals.

I'm 40, and I remember hating the Dodgers...but that hatred has really diminished over the years due to the divisional alignment.

Interestingly enough I feel that the Redleg-Cards rivalry would be a little less "hate the Cards" and more I really hate losing to the Cards if Dusty and Tony didn't breed so much hatred and discontent for each other's ball clubs.

But the generational note is spot on and amusing!

Hilarious article. I especially love this part:

They are a church casserole made out of cream of mushroom soup and Minute Rice. They are a horrible family staring at a Norman Rockwell painting of itself.

    Re: NLCS

It's a tough spot to be in as a Reds fan for sure.....but being a Reds fan I am going to root for the cardinals. If Chris carpenter and TLR were there playing a role I might think a little differently.

The baseball fan in me cannot fathom any team who buys their championships with players whom other teams developed. I have a burning hatred for a front office who time and time again refuses to invest in their own farm system and take the shortcut to getting MLB ready players....sure everyone has to do that occasionally and that is part of free agency and I get that, but I hate when almost every starter on a team has not even seen said teams minor leagues. It's what is wrong with baseball and it's one of the factors that have driven fans away from Americas pastime to football....the dodgers are everything that's wrong with what's going on in our game today......sure I loved watching Puig come in and help them win they division when they were so horrendous pre Puig but I cannot and will not root for a team who has one player in their starting lineup whom they drafted and/or helped develop in catcher aj Ellis......outside of Ellis, their team is paid for as a product of a horrible scouting system and a front office who believes in shortcuts and buying championships.

With all that said, you have a cardinals team who yes will buy some superstars ala Matt Holiday and Carlos Beltran but you also have several home grown talented players who are helping that team win and are staples in that teams success....they play the game the way I love watching the game be played, they are who I want the reds to be....they play an entirely different ball game when they have 2 strikes on them and/or 2 outs....they play to contact with 2 strikes and they don't force the long ball....on top of that they develop their pitching arms in their system. They might not have drafted every arm but outside of Wainwright almost all their pitchers have at least went through their farm system and learned to play the game the way they want it played. Yes I hate the cardinals when they are playing the reds and basically just because of TLR and Chris Carpenter but outside of those 2 bums I really respect what I am seeing with the cardinals team. And if you really want to be depressed, go loom through the cardinals farm system and look how many Matt carpenters they have.....look at how many young arms they have that are truly doing decent.

Maybe this post was more about venting my frustrations on why the Reds are not playing in this series against the dodgers or cardinals but any fan who looks at both these teams with an unbiased view and comes away rooting for the dodgers are going to be very depressed in the next 5 years because the cardinals have built a very solid foundation and I see them going nowhere.....the dodgers however are always only going to be as good as their payroll will allow it to be....I just don't see how anyone can not respect the cardinals and hate the dodgers, to me it's black and white.

    Re: NLCS

I do not know who I am rooting for. I hate that the Cardinals always are so fortunate with their players and are possibly the most successful NL franchise. Then again, I hate that the Dodgers have become the Yankees of the NL and get away with having nearly double the payroll of anyone else.

Anyways, my original said this, but I thought I would reiterate it: The Reds may be out of the playoffs, but it is really interesting and pretty cool that we won 6 of 7 games against the last 2 remaining NL teams.
