I have no problem at all pulling for the Dodgers in this series. I would root for North Korea if they were playing the Cardinals.

Ultimately though, I'll be pulling for the A.L. Red Sox if they advance the WS.

Other than the fact that the Dogers haven't been in the WS in 25 years.

From a historical perspective, this NLCS pits the undisputed titans of the NL against each other. That's the thing about the Cardinals and Dodgers, they've been good enough long enough that fans of most NL teams have developed some reason to despise them over the course of time.

Goody, lots of shots of Magic Johnson doing ownership soft clapping. And more repetitive discussion of the greatness of Yasiel Puig and how he turned their season around. Did you know that Don Mattingly was about to get fired? And that one of the poster children for the steroid era is their hitting coach?

Every team has story lines. Don Mattingly was teetering on being canned and Puig came up and was electric and Mattingly and others believe Puig's play inspired the ill-motivated Ramirez and those two players were outstanding from June and on propelling this team.

    And FWIW....Magic is awesome.

This is one of those series which I don't know who I will root for until I start watching it and without cable I won't be watching it.

Didn't Magic Johnson say that if the Dodgers win the World Series, he's going to wear a speedo? That alone should make you all root for the Cardinals to win

I hate the Cardinals -- I didn't like the Dodgers during the 70s and 80s when we were division rivals, but I never had the dislike of Steve Garvey or Ron Cey or Davey Lopes that I have for Molina. I always respected Darrtown's own, Walter Alston. Thus, I am rooting for the Dodgers.
    Where we gonna go?

It doesn't really matter to me. Question is which team do I dislike less. Yes the Cardinals are rivals, whine all the time, and have Molina, but you have to respect how smart they have been which FA and drafting.

Dodgers on the other hand, basically bought the best MLB players not snatched up by the Yankees yet. I found it more satisfying seeing them fail the first part of the season, and then they get Puig up and on fire. I would say my dislike for Molina is pretty high, but Puig is probably the next closest.

The Cardinals beat the Pirates in the NLDS too. Which is what I wanted to happen after their fans were completely out of control at the WC. Therefore, I am rooting for the Cardinals in the NLCS so they can have their hearts broken in the WS to the Red Sox.
    2015 Attendance 2-1 (4/6, 4/7,4/24)
    2014 Attendance 1-3 (3/31, 4/12, 8/14)
    2013 Attendance: 6-0 (4/3, 4/16, 4/17, 8/3, 8/21, 9/7)

One thing you have to remember is that our hearts don't really get broken if the Cardinals lose. Sure it hurts but there is always a "we will get them next year" mentality with most of the Cardinals fan base. You sort of saw this in 2004 with the Red Sox, where they swept the Cardinals in St. Louis and the fan base gave the Red Sox a standing ovation.
