OK, which one of you is John Erardi?
Reading that article was like reading ORG.

"The question, of course, is could the Reds count on him (Alex Guerrero) from Opening Day?"
IF the Reds signed Guerrero, acquired Profar, and dealt BP then the middle infield could be taken care of with Profar, Guerrero, and Cozart (and a backup) for the 2 positions.

29 3b had 300 ab's, Frazier was 9th in MLB in HRs, 3rd in the NL.
Isn't that by definition a 3rd basemen with "pop"?

Good article and I can't disagree with a thing in it. I really think we will see a very active winter.

My question is who has an untradeable contract from another team that would trade with us for BP?
I agree a lot with his article, but who is a possible trade target to get for BP? Maybe a SP since Homer will be traded and health concerns for Cueto and Cingrani? Erardi mentions a LF, but would we want two LF with untradeable contracts in the same year?
2015 Attendance 2-1 (4/6, 4/7,4/24)
2014 Attendance 1-3 (3/31, 4/12, 8/14)
2013 Attendance: 6-0 (4/3, 4/16, 4/17, 8/3, 8/21, 9/7)
I'm being nitpicky, but I have a problem with this:
With Guerrero getting at least a 4-5 year contract at 6+ million/year, he better eventually be better than average.Determine if you think Alex Guerrero, the 26-year-old Cuban defector, is good enough to be a league average second baseman. If you determine he is, pull out all the stops to get him. Simultaneously, figure out who might be a good ‘‘our-bad-contract- for-your bad-contract’’ trading partner, and gauge their interest in Brandon Phillips
I know people are down on Phillips now. But he was banged up in the latter half of the season.. I expect a rebound from him. I'm open to getting a new 2b, but I see Phillips already having "above average potential".
By all reports, Guerrero isn't ready right now. I wouldn't mind signing him, but trading Phillips and counting on him in a potential Choo-less offense doesn't seem smart. I expect a harder fight for the Reds to make the playoffs next year.
Having a Henry Rodriguez type man 2b while Guerrero gets reps at AAA for a half a year is going to impact the offense.
#1 priority for the Reds is the stopgap in CF, IMO.
Frazier is fine at 3b, going to be hard to upgrade there, plus he's cheap.
The Reds could explore adding another LF as insurance, but I expect Ludwick to regain at least some of his power by next year. Maybe I'm alone, but I was encouraged by what I saw of Ludwick when he came back. It didn't necessarily show up in the stats, but he seems good.
[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob

yeah... no. He has an interesting take, but he misses more than he hits in this article.
As woy pointed out, the Reds already have a 3B with pop in Frazier. He had more HR's than Wright, Prado, Sandoval and Headly. What he lacked was singles. I think he bounces back from that.
Why pay a ton to get an unknown in Guerrero? He MIGHT be fantastic. He might be league average. I haven't read a thing that states he's all that defensively. I see no reason to move BP for him other than age.
I'm for Chapman in the rotation, but it is Leake that I'd move, while his perceived value is high. Seattle, SD, SF, Detroit, NY Mets, Marlins all have parks tailor made for Leake. There is a fit there for some young talent in return. The Mets especially might be interested with Harvey out all of next year.
I don't deal either Bailey or Chapman, but Chapman to the rotation is an easy choice. It has no real downside. If it fails, he goes back to the pen and resumes his duties as closer.
I make the offer to Arroyo, and bowl Choo over. I give him 72 hours to take the deal, and I remind Scott Boras how well he did with Michael Bourne.
Dejesus and Franklin Gutierrez are both FA's, and I am betting not too expensive. Those are my two stopgap targets. If Choo is not signed I keep Ludwick in a starting role. If he is, I move him to LF and bring a few guys in. However, I give Hamilton every opportunity to win the job outright in ST.
That's what I'd do this offseason.
Dubito Ergo Cogito Ergo Sum.

His idea to trade a starter for a bat seems to overestimate the value of starting pitching. The pendulum has swung and most teams are looking for big bats and there is a surplus of big arms. I'm not sure that you get a cleanup hitting left fielder for Homer and some prospects like has been bandied about as a no brainer.

The only thing I'd add is that I'd be actively shopping Billy Hamilton right now too.

No downside to a qualifying offer to Bronson - hard to imagine that he takes it. As others have said, if he does, so much the better - deal a SP.
I'm fine with Frazier given the economic realities - Cozart too. If Cano doesn't resign with NYY, maybe there is a fit for BP.
Need to make a serious run at Choo and address catcher.
While I'm on board w/ sticking w/ Frzier, everything else I completely agree with in that article.
