If you are talking about the braided rope necklaces, they are called Phiten. They are infused with ions that give baseball players magical powers. Or so the marketing pitch goes. Every kid that played baseball 2 years ago had one. Now they are out of style.

My theory is that they ward off vampires, but it is not backed up by scientific study...
