How is it possible the Reds don't have one player represented by Scott Boras? Is it because Jocketty won't deal with him? I don't see how that could be but what other reason is there? It can't be coincidence.

Isn't Boras the same agent the Bengals used to have all kinds of problems with players holding out?
Choo and Jason Donald are both Boras clients. Ryan Madson, too. So was Micah Owings, although I'm not sure whether he was when he was a Red. Corey Patterson, too.

It's mostly because we can't afford Boras clients unless we get em while they're young.

Not sure why, but am glad. Wish all owners would team up and refuse to deal with him and force clients to leave him.

You're right, Mike. The owners did try that once and lost. Fact is, Boras is an excellent agent if you're a "max my dollars" guy. Some players are willing to discount for home, for a winner, for various personal reasons and some players simply want the most buck for their bang regardless.
99% of all numbers only tell 33% of the story so when looking at the numbers remember that numbers is plural...
Scott Boras doesn't bother me. If a player goes to Boras you know it means he wants big money. There are other agents out there. Boras isn't even the scummiest one available, that would be Dan Lozano. I wish fans would understand it is misdirected to hate Boras himself.

IN my opinion. Scott Boras makes people overpay for his clients, Good for his clients, bad for the middle market teams
There will always be a Boras-esque agent out there. It is up to the player if they want to hitch their wagon to that star.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
