Trying to figure out what a SABR-minded manager is.

I guess he doesn't bunt, hits his best hitters at the top of the order, and doesn't care about RBIs.

    Whatever.

I'd prefer that the team focus on getting more hitters before that, but... yeah, Jacoby has had enough rope. Time for someone new.

We might start the discussion by reading something like this.

    I'm not a system player. I am a system.

This Bo knows sac bunts, that's for sure. One guess which team led the AL in that category.

Well... that's encouraging but pretty elliptical.

No one said it was just about avoiding sac bunts. As we've discussed at length in other threads, there are moments when those can be used to strategic effect.

So that means Mack Jenkins slides over to pitching coach? Or does Ted Power get promoted to the bigs?

I'm glad that, at the very least, the Reds went with the safe choice, rather than doing something that could be potentially disastrous like giving Riggleman the job (or any of the dozen former Reds players with no managerial experience that have been mentioned here the last couple weeks).

Was not my first choice, but I'm a company guy...Congrats Price, you at least know the team and the farm system like the back of your hand. That's an advantage. Good luck...

Agreed. There was no need to go the high risk / high reward route this time around with a "name" guy or a radically new philosophy. This is a team that won 90 games and needed something new -- but not a wholesale personality change. The players know Price and trust him; that's already half the battle.
