I really like what Bruce had to say.

I wonder had Price been the manager back in the day, would Edwin have actually learned how to hit the firstbaseman's mitt?

    Re: Bryan Price - Poll

I was listening to Lance McAlister because he is interviewing a lot of players, and even Price himself about the hiring, and he has not put the podcast up yet but some very interesting things have been said.

Here is a link that you can check for it later if you are interested.

Price said something to the effect of establishing a "player council" on leadership and to make sure that the team is running all on the same page.

Mike Leake said that Price will tell the players like it is, and hold them accountable. Also that was something that Dusty lacked because he wanted to be liked too much, and that some players were not on the same page.

IMO, what Leake said was kind of shocking that a player would be that blunt about some of the problems.

Very much so. Now for a Home Run hire at hitting coach.

    I voted a frownie..
Not because I dislike Price, I just think if Cast wanted to change the attitude of the team, this isn't going to do it. This is pretty much "status quo"..

So even though I voted "no", I think Price will do an adequate job. It just seems as though the Reds didn't even bother doing a search. I guess they interviewed a token minority to make Bud happy, but this was not a real search.

It will be interesting to see a similar poll in 2-3 years.. I'm guessing Price will not be as popular I haven't read the other thread, but I'm glad Price is being labeled as a numbers guy. Let's see if that actually makes a difference, because I haven't heard anyone disagree with that. Although, I suppose as soon as he makes a lineup that people disagree with, he'll suddenly be labeled "old school"
[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob

I would have liked someone outside the organization. We haven't had a lot of success with the managers hired in-house.

Why take pot shots at someone who going forward is gonna have 0 to do with the team? The Dusty Baker era is over, let it rest in the history of the Cincinnati Reds. Theres NOTHING good that could come from airing dirty laundry between Baker and Price.

This worries me, given the time-traveling ability I assume you possess given your user name and number of posts.

like Krono, i'm more saddened by the lack of an :| option. I still think he's a better option then all others discussed.

119-6. Has there ever been a poll on Redszone so one sided? Even those who aren't outright happy are seemingly willing to give Price a shot and like him as much or better than most of the alternatives. I am happy - I think they got this decision right.
99% of all numbers only tell 33% of the story so when looking at the numbers remember that numbers is plural...

To be fair, he did use the words "accountable" and "accountability" 999 times during the presser and following interviews yesterday. If it were a drinking game, every Reds fan would have been dead of alcohol poisoning after the first 5 minutes.

He also talked about team unity and making sure every player gives 100% every single day.

Whether he can be successful in implementing this is anyone's guess. But I think the attitude he is talking about is as diametrically opposed to the one under Baker as is possible.

    Wasn't the Dusty hiring?
