That is how the Cardinals win. Technicalities. Phantom infield fly calls. BS umpire judgements.

    Ugh.

Craig was 2-3 feet inside the baseline. It's almost like when the ball hits a runner on hi way to first but he's out because he was inside the baseline.

Watch it again. Craig had absolutely nowhere to go. He started toward home and was immediately tripped by the fielder.

If Middlebrooke hadn't twice lifted up his legs then maybe there's an argument. But Craig was totally impeded on that play. Obvious call to me.

That is strange interference call. Definitely if the runner was purposely interfered with but when the fielder is laying down and you trip over him in the baseline I am not exactly sure that is interference

Gotta know the situation. With Kozma due up, you take the one out you just got at home. Pitch to Kozma with two outs and a chance at extending the game.

Its obstruction and where the fielder is on that play does not matter.

There was no way Middlebrooks could have gotten out of the way.

What a terrible way to lose a big game.

I was confused 'till I saw the slo mo...Middlebrook looked behind him to Craig, and LIFTED his legs. That's all there is to it. A good try as Craig was sure to score there.

If he kept his feet down when they were down, I believe it would have been kosher.

Intent doesn't matter. It was the right call.

Sucks for the Sox and Cards go to the crossroads again.

But Middlebrooks kept lifting up his legs which was part of the obstruction. Had he been prone on the ground, then a tougher call. I thought this was obvious.

Poor Red Sox. First they thought Ed Armbrister interfered in 1975. They were rather vocal on that one against the Reds in the Series.

Now they lose because of interference in 2013.

    Shame.

Craig had a straight shot right down the baseline. He didn't have to double back inside the base and go over Middlebrooks. The most direct route was completely unobstructed.
