Martinez gives you a 50/50 chance of keeping the other team from scoring. Matheny rolled the dice and won last night. He pushed his luck by using him again tonight.

You think the Red Sox SS considered letting that pop-up drop so that they could get the easy force to get Wong off base?

Wasn't the infield fly in effect?

No. There have to be runners at first and second or bases loaded for the infield fly rule to be applicable.

No. No force play at third so no infield fly rule.

I'm thinking Rosenthal would have a better shot against Workman.

Do National League managers EVER send a relief pitcher up to bat in the 9th inning of a tie game?!?

Really looks like this is shaping up to be a Cardinals win. Cardinal pitching has made the Sox look anemic at the bat. I never thought I'd see that. Where do they get these pitxhers?

They have to gut the "scout" system on Gameday. Just said "Rosenthal is trying to tie up Workman with pitches inside. He's hitting .000 on pitches there, versus .000 elsewhere."

Got a laugh out of me anyway.

Farrell either being out managed or doesn't believe he's got much in the pen.

He doesn't have much left in the pen.

He has his closer, who's been lights out, who he's now bringing in anyway. Seems like a complete waste of a pretty important out.
