Secret to BOS win tonight: Not throwing to 3rd base.

Well, I've seen a lot of baseball, but I sure can't remember weirder walk-offs back-to-back. And in the World Series of all places.

    Baseball is a funny game.

McCarver and Buck don't seem nearly so excited as they were after last night's Cardinal win.

Jonny Gomes walked twice in the same game.

Just heard the StL radio call of the final play on MLB Network. They were making fun of Boston holding Wong on when the pickoff happened. They were laughing and saying it was "silly" to hold him on.

I was in the car tonight, traveling back from Martinsville Speedway. I hated Orel Hirsheiser when he pitched for the Dodgers and tonight, he told his audience over and over how bad Clay was going to be, pointing out his his velocity was down and how lucky he was. He continued saying how the a Cardinals do things the right way, and how great they were. On Gomes' HR, he grew silent. What a butt.

To be fair, the cold makes baseball games a lot more error prone for a number of reasons.

Sounds just like something a Cardinal would say

For the record,birdsonthebat.com has been discussing how the Cardinals need better hitters in the second half of the lineup and how Moz needed to acquire some roster additions at the trade deadline instead of sitting on his butt.

    Re: World Series Discussion

Wong deserves a lot of credit for standing at his locker despondent, taking a lot of hard questions. I'm still not sure he understands his role in that situation. He talked about getting a good lead so he could score on a double in the gap. Whaaaa? His run doesn't mean anything. His out means everything.

I didn't hear that crew tonight, but I was stuck at work for games 2 and 3 and I thought Shulman and Hershiser were very good in those games.
