Wow, I was about to post about Juan Uribe being nominated a joke, but he easily the 2nd best 3B in the NL behind Arrenado (30 DRs / 22.5 UZR/150) but Uribe had 15 DRS and 35.3 UZR/150.
Frazier was just flat out not as good as I thought - 5 DRS / 13.3 UZR/150
Thrilled to see so many Orioles listed for the GG (IIRC, they set a record for a team with the least amount of errors in a season....I think they only made like 50+ errors for the entire season which is crazy amazing ) and I'm cautiously hopeful that Jay and Brandon win their respective awards.
"I tried to play golf, but I found out I wasn't very good." -Joey Votto on his offseason hobby search
An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”
All teams have guys who don't get to be finalists but lets just look at Reds. 3 other guys could have been finalists without raising eyebrows much.
P - Bronson Arroyo. No problem with the other finalists but it's hard to figure anyone fielding their position better than Bronson.
SS - Cozart shouldn't win the award over Simmons but he holds his own with the other 2 guys on the finalist list.
3B - Frazier - again, I wouldn't claim winning rights for Todd but I also wouldn't be aggrieved had he made the final cut. Defensively he was outstanding.
Gold Glove is a weird award, though. Almost meaningless to me because voters end up considering team record, offensive stats & other stuff that doesn't mean anything to defensive prowess. Winning several has some merit but that's about it.
99% of all numbers only tell 33% of the story so when looking at the numbers remember that numbers is plural...

Since #RawlingsGoldGlove Award finalists started in '11, only 11 players finished in top 3 at respective position each year (cont'd):
3-time #RawlingsGoldGlove Award finalists: Beltre, Bruce, Buehrle, Cano, A.Gonzalez, Gordon, Hardy, Molina, Pedroia, Phillips, Wieters
I'd say it's Barney's to lose, but BP certainly has a decent shot.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
