Dwayne Wade faces an uncertain market as a free agent with LeBron James opting to sign in Cleveland.
Wade could have earned $41.8 million over the next two seasons but he chose to terminate his deal as part of Miami's roster rebuild. That plan is crumbling quickly now that LeBron is gone, as Chris Bosh may soon follow suit and there aren't likely to be many huge, long-term offers for Wade given his chronic knee problems and injury history. Wade has played with Miami since being drafted in 2003-04, but at the moment their decimated roster doesn't have much going for it.
Updating a previous report, the Rockets expect that Chris Bosh will "soon" agree to sign in Houston now that LeBron James has opted to leave the Heat.
The Rockets have offered Bosh a four-year, $88 million deal and they're willing to pay a steep luxury tax to assemble a championship-caliber core that also includes James Harden, Dwight Howard and Chandler Parsons. Before Bosh could sign anything, the Rockets will need to complete trades sending away Omer Asik (to the Pelicans) and Jeremy Lin (in talks with the 76ers). At the moment it doesn't seem as though Bosh is considering any other teams.

Carmelo Anthony is not expected to announce which team he'll sign with on Friday.
LeBron James returning to Cleveland will dominate the headlines and Melo may not want to become an afterthought, though it's conceivable that he's still making up his mind. Knicks president Phil Jackson has expected a decision from Melo for the past few days and with luck we'll hear from him before the end of the weekend.

The Rockets are "moving quickly" to trade Jeremy Lin and clear enough cap space to make an offer to Chris Bosh, and they're in negotiations with the 76ers.
Lin has also been linked to the Bucks, and Rockets GM Daryl Morey has simply been waiting for the first shoe to drop before trading Lin away. To entice a team to accept Lin's $15 million salary this year, Houston will likely include draft picks and/or young players. Bosh will reportedly get a max offer worth $96 million over four years, and if he accepts it the Rockets are expected to also match Chandler Parsons' hefty $45 million offer sheet from the Mavericks. Things will progress quickly now that LeBron has made his decision.

The Rockets are reportedly finalizing a deal that will send Jeremy Lin to the Lakers.
The move will give Houston the cap space to sign Chris Bosh, and Lin might just be the new starting point guard in Los Angeles. The Rockets will reportedly send their first-round pick next season, plus a future second-round pick to the Lakers, and the Lakers will send cash and the rights to an overseas player. Lin is set to earn $15 million in the final season of his three-year deal, but only $8.37 million will go against the salary cap. The Rockets had always said they would not deal Lin unless it was certain they could net Chris Bosh, so it seems that Bosh will be suiting up for Houston next season.

If Chris Bosh agrees to sign with the Rockets, they may be inclined to match the Mavericks' offer sheet for Chandler Parsons.
LeBron James' decision to leave the Heat puts Houston in a great position to sign Bosh. If they do land him, sources tell beat writer Jonathan Feigen that the Rockets feel "it would be worth paying a stiff luxury tax" to have a core that included James Harden, Dwight Howard, Bosh and Parsons.

The Mavericks appear to be resigned to the fact the Rockets are going to match their offer sheet to Chandler Parsons, meaning Dallas will now turn it's sights to guys like Trevor Ariza and Luol Deng.
Ariza is younger and has more gas left in the tank, while Deng is a more consistent and reliable option. Either way, it would be pretty shocking at this point if both Chris Bosh and Chandler Parsons aren't both in the Rockets starting lineup next season.

Chris Bosh stays with Miami, leaving Houston in a bind, especially whether or not to match the offer to Parsons and that uncertainty also led to Vince Carter leaving Dallas for Memphis.

Chris Bosh believes that even without LeBron James, Miami can still compete for a championship.
"I think right now we have the correct infrastructure to compete for a championship," Bosh said. "We have to get much better at certain positions, and there’s a bunch of things that have to continue to happen. But you know a team like the Spurs, they had a lot of guys that people underestimate, but as a team, they were outstanding." Miami's new Big Three of Dwyane Wade, Luol Deng, and Chris Bosh isn't quite as intimidating as the one that included LeBron James, but they will still be able to compete at a high level. Chris Bosh will now be a primary scorer for Miami, and he will look to reestablish himself as an elite talent in the league after being a third-wheel the past four years.

The Rockets have decided not to match the Mavericks' three-year, $46 million offer sheet for Chandler Parsons.
The two teams are discussing a potential sign-and-trade which would create a traded-player exception for Houston, but either way Parsons will start at SF for the Mavericks next season. He gives Dallas a very intriguing starting lineup of Raymond Felton, Monta Ellis, Parsons, Dirk Nowitzki and Tyson Chandler, and there's still a chance that Dallas will upgrade their PG situation before opening night. The Rockets' tempo was ideal for fantasy purposes, but Chandler has shown that he can score in transition or in the half-court, with or without the ball, and he should fare well as a top option alongside Dirk and Monta in Dallas.

Omri Casspi was traded to the Pelicans as part of Sunday's three-team trade with the Wizards and Rockets.
Houston dealt Casspi, Omer Asik and $1.5 million in cash to the Pelicans in a deal which expanded to include five players, one draft pick, cash considerations and traded-player exceptions. Casspi averaged 18.1 minutes for Houston last season and may find himself with a bigger role in New Orleans, even if he comes off the bench behind Tyreke Evans at SF (which isn't guaranteed). We'll keep a close eye on his role throughout the preseason.

The NBA stars should all hate Derek Fisher and Billy Hunter. They have put the league's stars in the position of having to decide (or at least deal with the negative PR) between taking the most money possible and "winning". Because of the league's maximum salary and overall cap along with the general nature of the game, players almost have to take less to win. The two teams in the last two Finals had stars and role players on discounts.
So, as a result of this situation, people are complaining about Carmelo Anthony taking the money in New York instead of going somewhere else and getting less money. The dude just signed a $129 million dollar contract. If that isn't winning, I don't know what is. I certainly wish that I could make a bad $129 million decision.

So true. Pure selfish reasons for Billy Hunter,...short-sightedness for Derek Fisher. Neither person was serving the best interests of the NBA players' present AND future. The Players Association finally woke up and fired Hunter, but it waited way too long. The NFL Players Association has always been at the other end of the spectrum when it comes to helping its players.

Don't the proposed anti-tanking rules just make it worse? Instead of trying to have the worst record in the league, teams will be fighting to NOT make the playoffs, because having a 1 in 14 shot of winning the lottery is a helluva lot better than losing in the first round of the playoffs. I'd rather have bad teams jockeying for the worst record than relatively good teams trying NOT to make the playoffs.
Absolutely. Sounds more like an attempt to justify "fixing" the lottery so that a team the NBA wants to win won't be so far-fetched when it does happen.
