    Good riddance.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Not quite. They're still exploring more options other than demolition.

Interesting that a baseball franchise will now be named after a building that no longer exists.

Given Houston's dwindling role in a shrinking US space program, one could also argue that they're named after an industry that barely exists there.

This could give the Astros an excuse to change their nickname and bring in a new marketing opportunity.

Sad to see in a way. When the Astrodome was opened it was a real marvel. It was just mind boggeling at the time to imagine playing baseball or football inside a covered building. It was often called the 8th wonder of the world. I can always remember my dad saying he would like to see it someday. He never got the chance. RIP Astrodome.

Would the "Rockets" change their name too? (At least the "Texans" should be safe )

Ahhh the real name is more in reference to the space industry that was in the area in the mid 60's (plus they had a short time to make a decision)

The minor league team was known as the Buffaloes (the Buffaloes derived their nickname from Buffalo Bayou, the principal waterway through Houston.)

What about Colt 45s? That is a rather safe name and shouldn't cause any problems.

They could update it to something like the Houston Glock 9.

Still going to cost a bundle to demolish the place, what a waste.
