Well I think any team would sign that 4/70 deal.
And Choo would likely sign any 6/110 deal.

Looks like it's waitin' time for Choo and that's good for the clubs.

What is Boston's status on Choo? Seems like they would be all over this. I'm glad we've heard nothing from the Cubs on this as was rumored during the end of the season.

I wouldn't be surprised if some team is lurking and planning to outbid everyone at the last minute (Giants?). I have a feeling that teams that have spring training in Florida (like Boston) are at a distinct disadvantage here, as Choo lives in AZ and has been quoted as saying that he's looking to get a long-term deal that allows him to spend more time with family.

Would ya'll go 5/90 if you are the Reds? That's about my ceiling given the Reds current state. And that will likely mean two of BP, Arroyo, Chapman and Bailey won't be with the club opening day to clear payroll.

I still don't think that will get it done. 6/110 is a good over/under

Giants, Red Sox, Tigers and Rangers. Four big markets left. Boras still in control and likely ends up with an overpay by the Tigers or Rangers as the AL provides more long term flexibility for Choo in his late 30s.

Choo seems perfect for Boston's offensive approach. I don't think they will overpay though otherwise he'd already be signed.

I don't buy that the Giants are in. Like you, I'm not sure the Red Sox are willing to pay much more than the Reds. There was some talk yesterday that Rajai Davis took the Tigers out of the running for Choo.

Boras might be trying to get the Rangers to bid against themselves. With Nolan Ryan gone, I don't think they'll fall for that.

Seems like Boras keeps chumming the water with the notion that Ellsbury set the benchmark for Choo. If so much as one team thought that and had made that kind of offer, Choo would be signed right now. Your 5/90 might be a lot closer to where he gets done than what he's asking.

Not that I don't like Choo, but I think if they could pry Jose Bautista I think I'd rather have him at 2 yrs and 28 million with a 14 million team option in 2016. Bautista is only 2 years older than Choo and is the 4 hole hitter that this team has lacked. 2014 put Bautista in RF, slide Jay over to CF and keep Ludwick in LF. 2015 buyout Ludwick LF Bautista,CF Hamilton, RF Bruce.

What's up with this places obsession with Jose Bautista? This has been going on for seriously the last 3-4 years.

He'll provide good run production at GABP and at 2 years 28 million would be a bargain to what Choo will get. Also moves Joey out of the 4 hole.

Since when has Joey hit in the 4 hole?

My bad I meant to say it would give Joey protection in the 4 hole. Might take some of the pressure to produce rbi's off of him.

True. I think Bautista is a decent target, actually. I just agree with 44 that he is a bit of RZ obsession over the past 3-4 years.

Understood. I haven't been one banging down the door for Bautista, but if Choo is seeking 6 or 7 years I'd much rather have 2-3 years of Bautista at a lesser price.
