Iirc, Corcino made some mechanics adjustments that he's still getting acclimated to. The pessimism surrounding his prospect status is certainly understandable, but I think he simply needs a little more time to rebound and get used to the changes.

    Agreed- I'm not jumping ship...yet.

I see Corcino and Rogers as similar - BOR/long relief guys with big league futures. Corcino could regain some of the upside and get back to having a Mike Leake like ceiling (#4 starter), but doubtful he ever gets back to having a Johnny Cueto ceiling.

I think Rogers is what he is at this point, and that's not at all bad.

I am new to the forum but am loving the minor league talk. I watch the prospects is Dayton and Louisville when I can and can't wait to see them do well

Both guys were quite different pitchers in 2011-2012 than they were in 2013.
Yea, that makes sense. I just wanted to say Doug, I wasn't intending that comment as a barb for anyone.. It was more like "Wow, this guy sure has fallen".. I had never seen him until 2013. I guess I had high expectations for him and was very disappointed.

Hopefully he can get a handle on things in 2014 and bounce back.
Do you think there's a reason why Corcino struggled with control? Was it just that the AAA hitters had a better eye and he couldn't get away with it? Or did his control just go off for some reason.

I did like the way that Corcino was able to stay composed after being hammered and pitch some good innings later (as opposed to falling apart and needing to get pulled).
Thank you Walt and Bob for going for it in 2010-2014!

Corcino's mechanics were an outright disaster in 2013. He couldn't find a consistent release point to save his life. He and Ted Power changed things around several times throughout the season to try and find something that worked, but nothing was able to work over the long haul. The stuff taking a little step backwards mixed in with no ability to throw the ball where he wanted led to a lot of very hard contact.
