    Favorite holiday food

What's everyone's favorite thing in their Thanksgiving/Christmas meals?

I personally love sweet potatoes. Though, my aunt made a chocolate chip pecan pie that was amazing. It has been the best dessert I've had this holiday season thus far.

Stuffing, the goofy thing is I could make it whenever I want and I always forget how much I like it.

My family from New England always made oyster stuffing. I loved it.

My wife is from Arkansas, and she always makes cornbread stuffing. It is great but not as great. She always promises to try New England style but has not yet tried to make it.

So far, I'm in agreement with all of these replies. I'll add to it our family recipe goetta, which I only have when we stay at my parents' house during the holidays and homemade spritz cookies, in the shape of a Christmas tree. I'm also looking forward to sauerkraut stuffed duck that my mother in law makes for Christmas afternoon.

Speaking of holiday meals, my wife now buys a smallish Eberle Farms turkey for Thanksgiving, which she brines for a day before roasting. My goodness, what a bird.

    Re: Favorite holiday food

I don't really get to eat the foods I really like for the holidays because of all the picky eaters in my family. My favorite when my grandparents were still around was my grandmother's oyster stuffing. And I used to love turkey when it was a once a year meal. But now turkey is commonplace and since my wife doesn't eat red meat, we have turkey all the time, every holiday. So I actually like it when we go somewhere else and they have a rib roast or a leg of lamb or a country ham.

Christmas food is so much better than Thanksgiving food.

    Ham > turkey
Cheesy scalloped potatoes > mashed potatoes
    Green beans > corn
    Christmas cookies > pumpkin pie

At least that's what we have at my family dinner.

Meh, if it was Indian Food or something spicy I'd get excited. No meat or juice for me, thus I like cranberries, but this version is the best

My dad liked fruit cake. He's passed away now but I don't think that had anything to do with his death.

I love egg nog. But only the kind my mom would make. It was very sweet,no alcohol. My wife got the recipe from her and makes it just as well.
